Spotlight chased south superstar Rajinikanth as another year drove off into the sunset. The 67-year-old actor on Sunday confirmed his political entry by announcing to his fans, “My political entry is certain,” he said. It is the need of the hour that he should enter politics, he declared amid cheers from his fans, and went on to add that he will launch his own party and contest all 234 constituencies in the next Assembly Polls in the state. He however didn’t divulge much about the new party. Apparently, the next assembly poll is due only on 2021, if the Edappadi K Palaniswamy government perseveres.
Prior to Assembly Elections in 2021, there is the crucial Parliamentary Polls in 2019. Rajinikanth, who is identified as close to BJP, would be then forced to make a clear stand, particularly as he deplores the current state of democracy in the country. Rajinikanth said that his party will not contest the local body election which precedes the Assembly Polls due to scarcity of time. The actor earlier told his fans that he will announce his political stand on December 31, which is also the concluding day of his meeting with fans. Rajinikanth began by quoting Lord Krishna’s preaching on detachment to a confused Arjuna in the Bhagavad Gita, “Put your efforts, result is mine.” The actor added that he is all prepared for the war. What remains now is to shoot the arrow.
