Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United suffered a shock exit from the Champions League, following their round of 16 loss to Sevilla at Old Trafford.

Substitute Wissam Ben Yedder found the back of the net twice to hand the Spanish side a 2-1 victory over the Red Devils.

The first leg of the encounter was a goalless draw.

Manchester United showed a lot of promise after a convincing victory over Liverpool but they were a shadow of themselves against Sevilla.

Ben Yedder scored just 87 seconds after coming off the bench and he doubled the lead four minutes later.

Romelu Lukaku pulled one back for Manchester United, but the damage had already been done.

Sevilla have never reached the last 8 of the Champions League.

Their best was the quarter-finals of the European cup in 1958.

Manchester United failed to join their rivals Manchester City and Liverpool in the last eight of the Champions League.

Chelsea will soon learn their fate as they take on Barcelona tonight.

The Red Devils have almost lost the Premier League title race to rivals Manchester City and are now out of the Champions League.

However, Manchester United’s chances of winning silverware this season still remain intact as they are still in the FA Cup and will take on Brighton in the sixth round on Saturday.
