Arrangements in full swing for Jana Sena meeting near Acharya Nagarjuna University. Organisers expect a turnout of one lakh, but wary of exam impact.
Arrangements are in full swing for the public meeting to be held to mark the launch of the Jana Sena Party in Andhra Pradesh, at the sprawling Bible Mission grounds opposite Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur district.
Party president Pawan Kalyan will address the gathering in the evening and is expected to make a bold statement on his party’s stand on the much-debated Special Category Status.
The film actor-turned-politician made his intentions clear on his political moves in Capital region by deciding to construct a house and a camp office on a two-acre site at Kaza just beside the national highway. Mr. Kalyan along with his wife performed bhumi puja on Monday. This is the first public meeting to be held by the party though Mr. Kalyan had toured the Capital region earlier to highlight the problems of farmers who gave up land under the Land Pooling Scheme.
Party leaders said that they were expecting a crowd of at least one lakh, though they were wary of the impact of the Intermediate and degree examinations on the turnout of youngsters.
The police, however, are taking no chances and are making bandobust arrangements.
Preparations for the launch of the party began last year with the party going on a talent hunt drive in the State. The Jana Sena Party is expected to announce a central executive committee and appoint district coordinators soon.
