Students Union of UoH has demanded tighter security

(G.N.S) Dt. 20
The Students Union of University of Hyderabad has demanded that the administration strengthen the boundary walls of the campus to ensure their safety.
On March 16, two students of the varsity, including a girl, were attacked in the varsity. The accused in the case are believed to be outsiders. “Apart from the three existing entrances, several other entry points have been identified where there is no security, allowing access to outsiders,” a statement issued by the Union said. The union also asked the university authorities to set up streetlights for students who access library, hostels and academic complexes during the night.
The union also demanded that security personnel should be gender sensitised “to improve the interaction between the students and the security personnel”. Proper sensitisation should be given to students, faculty members, teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure a “gender just campus”, the statement read.
The union also congratulated the police officers for nabbing the accused who allegedly attacked the students.
