Uttar Pradesh DGP, Sulkhan Singh IPS, Rajnikant Mishra IPS, OP Singh IPS, RR Bhatnagar, A P Maheshwari, Rajnath Singh, Union Home Minister, Hitesh Chandra Awasthy, BPR&D, Praveen Singh IPS, UP DGP Appointment, Latest Appointment
Lucknow is speculating whether DGP Sulkhan Singh’s (IPS:1981: UP) battle with his IAS colleagues has eclipsed his prospect of getting another extension. Singh is already on a three-month extension beginning October 01 this year which is expiring in the next few days.
It is widely believed that Rajnikant Mishra (IPS:1984), OP Singh (IPS:1983), R R Bhatnagar (IPS:1983) and A P Maheshwari (IPS:1984) are in the reckoning. OP Singh, considered close to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, may have brighter prospects in case someone from the Centre is picked for the top job. At the same time, Hitesh Chandra Awasthy (DG, BPR&D) is seen to have an edge over O P Singh for certain reasons. Reportedly, if the DGP is picked up from serving cadre officers, Praveen Singh (IPS:1982:UP), the senior-most IPS serving in the state, may have fair chances for the top job.
