Deny supply lines of Afghanistan for US troops passing via Pakistan: Imran Khan

Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaaf chief Imran Khan on Thursday lashed out at the US for using Pakistan as a “gun for hire” and proposed a series of measures to give a strong response to recent Washington’s accusations, including denying Washington the use of the vital air and land supply lines for its troops stationed in Afghanistan via Pakistan.
The cricketer-turned-politician said that Pakistan has suffered seventy thousand deaths and $100 billion in losses to the economy because of its support to the US-led war on terror. He proposed two immediate measures to counter the latest US accusations.
“…Two immediate measures can be taken by Pakistan to send an unambiguous message to the US: One, we must immediately remove excessive US diplomatic, non-diplomatic and intelligence personnel from Pakistan, so that diplomatic parity is established according to international legal norms governing diplomatic relations between two states. Two, we must deny the US GLOC and AIRLOC facilities which we were providing free of cost to the US,” Khan said in a statement posted on his Twitter account.
Khan was responding to the accusations levied by the US President Trump in a tweet on January 1. In the tweet, he had accused Pakistan of giving nothing to the US but “lies and deceit” and providing “safe haven” to terrorists in return for $33 billion aid over the last 15 years, thinking of American leaders as “fools”.
A day later, the White House said that an already-delayed $255 million military aid to Pakistan had been blocked, the fate of which will depend on Islamabad’s response to terrorism on its soil.
Khan, who is one of the favourites in the upcoming general elections scheduled to be held in July 2018, asserted that Pakistan should not be a part of the US-led so-called war on terror.
“The lesson we must learn is never to be used by other for short-term paltry financial benefits ever again. We became a US proxy for a war against the Society Union when it entered Afghanistan and we allowed the CIA to create, train and arm Jihadi group on our soil and a decade later we tried to eliminate them as terrorists on US orders,” he added.

He also dismissed the threat from the US to revoke Pakistan’s major non-Nato ally status and said that hardly any benefit has come Islamabad’s way by the special favour.
“Only used, outdated weapons systems were available for Pakistan to purchase. Pakistan is not US-dependent on its strategic weapon systems,” he argued.
