Coal scam: Former Secretary HC Gupta convicted of corruption

Delhi: Special CBI court on Friday has convicted five people, including former Coal Secretary HC Gupta in connection with coal block allocation cases. Gupta had allocated in lieu of the rules of two coal mines located in West Bengal.
Special CBI Judge Bharat Parashar has also convicted Jupiter Joint Secretary KS Korfa and retired director KC Samaria, besides promoter of private company Vikash Metals and Power Limited, Coal Ministry besides Gupta. The court has also convicted Vikash Patni’s associate Anand Malik, owner of Vikash Metals owner.
VMPL had allocated by going against the rules of coal mines located in West Bengal-based Moria and Madhujaur (North and South). The CBI filed a case in September 2012. After the decision, all five people have been taken into custody. On December 3, the court will announce the sentence. All these people can be punished with at least 7 years.
