Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot was in Ahmedabad to attend the Congress’s ‘Jan Vedana Andolan’ rally, organized at RTO Circle in Vadaj, to raise awareness about the economic slowdown and agriculture crisis in the country.

Gehlot alleged that his earlier statement was deliberately misinterpreted and blown into a political controversy by Gujarat chief minister Vijay Rupani.
In October, Gehlot had questioned the efficiency of Gujarat’s prohibition policy, saying that liquor was being consumed in almost all houses in Gujarat and liquor consumption in the state was the highest of all states. Gujarat CM Rupani had demanded an apology from Gehlot.
“During my stay in Gujarat during the Lok Sabha elections I had seen that many Gujarati people go to consume alcohol straight after they complete their work. I was shocked that alcohol is rampantly consumed in Gujarat, the land of Mahatma Gandhi,” Gehlot said.
“Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani claims that I had insulted Gujarat. The fact is that we tried to stop liquor inflow into Gujarat from Rajasthan, Haryana, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh,” Gehlot said.
