Several teams of Rapid Action Force (RAF) were deployed across Ahmedabad to enforce lockdown. In sensitive areas of the city, the team conducted patrols with local police and appealed to people not to leave their houses.
The RAF teams patrolled Shahpur, Kalupur and Dariapur as well as the eastern and western parts of the city and soon likely to patrol in all other areas of city.
DCP Vijaykumar Patel said two companies of RAF (Rapid Action Force) have been deployed in the city. “While 7,000 city policemen are already in the field, two companies of RAF have been deployed in communally sensitive areas of Ahmedabad.”
The RAF is better equipped to deal with communal problems.
Asked whether any incidents have happened in the city for the RAF to be deployed, Patel said, This is just a preventive measure. There is no communal disharmony.
