On the event of the 70th Army Day, Indian Army Commander-in-Chief Bipin Rawat spoke at the Cariappa ground in New Delhi yesterday. Here, Rawat made a subtle comment about ‘social media’ that is making a ring on, well, social media.

“Social media is being used against us [Indian Army], we have to be careful in its use,” Rawat is quoted to have said.

Rawat also spoke at length about how Pakistan is helping infiltrators at the border, and how they will “never succeed”.

“We will not let these anti-national elements succeed at any cost. If we are forced, we may escalate our military action and carry out ‘other actions’,” said Rawat.

Rawat also spoke about the tensions between India and China, and how the Indian Army is ensuring Chinese transgressions are prevented.

“Ensuring security along the Line of Actual Control (with China) is our main duty,” he said.

Rawat also mentioned about an Aadhaar-based mobile app that is being developed for the Indian Army. This app will help the Army personnel to share their grievances online, which then will be resolved ASAP, said Rawat.
