Odisha boy Jyotiranjan Barik made the state proud achieving success in all India Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) examination 2018.
Bringing laurels for Odisha, Jyotiranjan Barik has secured All India Rank 1 in the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) this year.
Barik, a student of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), has secured the top rank by securing an overall score of 959 in agricultural engineering paper in the examination, the results of which were declared by Indian Institute of Technology.
Jyotiranjan, a student of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT), topped the national level test in the Agricultural Engineering subject with overall score of 959.
The results were announced by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati, on Saturday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the talented student on his success.
Asked about his aim, Barik who is a native of Phulnakhara in Cuttack district says he wants to pursue M.Tech in soil and water conservation engineering from IIT, Kharagpur and then go for PhD to become a scientist.
“I want to give alll the credit for the success to my father. My brothers and teachers have helped me a lot in achieving the success. My message to all the students who aspire GATE is that they should clear their concepts first and then strenthen only those identified topics, an elated Barik said.
The scores of GATE 2018 is also being used by various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) in their recruitment process while the IIT Guwahati had released the official answer keys and question papers of GATE 2018 on February 19, 2018.
Official sources said the candidates can download their scores cards from the official website from March 20 to May 31. They can visit the GOAPS portal to download the same from March 20.
Apart from Barik, Prashant Gupta of Lucknow has also secured the first All India rank in Chemistry with 71.67 percent out of 100.
Similarly, Namita Kalra from Uttarakhand has secured All India rank 1 in computer science engineering.
Notably, the GATE 2018 was conducted on February 3, 4, 10 and 11. The students aspiring to pursue master’s and doctoral programmes in engineering and technology at Indian Institute of Science and all IITs had appeared the examinations from across the country.
