US President Trump and Modi are visiting Ahmedabad on February 24. Just before this visit, there was sudden new twist on February 21. Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravish Kumar blasted that a program called ‘Donald Trump Citizen Greetings Committee’ was organized at the Motorra Stadium. Suddenly, the committee was constituted by Ahmedabad Mayor Bijal Patel as chairman, followed by two members, Dr Kirit Solanki and Hasmukh Patel, who were also members of the committee. Thus Trump was first invited and subsequently planned and finally the host has been decided two days ago. The first meeting of the Donald Trump Citizen Greeting Committee for Trump’s three-and-a-half-hour program ended in just 10 minutes, and all members, including the mayor, avoided interacting with the media and left quietly.
The members of the committee included Himashu Pandya, Padma Bhushan BV Doshi, Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat University, Durgash Butch of the Chamber of Commerce. However, Padma Shri Bhikudhan Gadhvi and GTU Vice-Chancellor Dr Naveen Seth were also found to be the other two members of the committee. But both members were absent in the first meeting.
After becoming the chairman of the Citizen Greetings Committee, Mayor Bijal Patel switched off her cell phone when media sources tried to contact her. Media sources tried to contact Mayor Bijal Patel but she was not able to reach in contact from any sources.
The members of the committee had no information about the committee itself.
On the other hand, when media talked to other members of the committee, no concrete information was found on this. On the contrary, sources was asking what is our role in the committee? When asked about Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, he said that the government had no role in it. However, it is also important to note that Chief Minister Vijay Rupani had announced the arrival of Trump during the election campaign in Delhi. The Prime Minister was also welcomed on Twitter. Many ministers, officials are busy preparing for it. So far no statement has been made from this congratulatory committee. Earlier, the Commissioner of Police had said that Namaste Trump’s invitee is Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and a collector.
The mathematics of the fund for the event will cost around Rs 100 crore after the event. Since the government cannot take direct donations, the expenditure incurred by this committee will not require any audit, as the existence of this committee will be destroyed immediately after completion of the program. Why Trump Citizen Greetings Committee | Trump’s program is not a government program or official announcement from the American government. Therefore, the Government of Gujarat or India cannot take responsibility as the host of that plan.
