Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmavati’ has been in the limelight for all the wrong reasons. The film faced opposition from various political parties and the makers were forced to postpone the film’s release date for political reasons. The film was then viewed by the CBFC and was granted a clearance certificate, providing they made 5 modifications and changed the title to ‘Padmavat’. But even then it looks like members of the Rajput Karni Sena are not willing to allow the film’s release in India.
Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi has asked for a resignation from Prasoon Joshi, Smriti Irani and Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore. “Protest against ‘Padmavati’ will continue across India and during the demonstration we will burn the effigies of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi. We also demand his resignation,” said Karni Sena leader Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi during a press conference. “Rathore should resign as he was born in the land from where Queen Padmavati belonged and urged him to stand with them in the ongoing protests against the movie,” he added.
