(G.N.S) Dt. 17
Another case of rape of a minor has come to light in Haryana’s Hisar district.
In this case, a three year old victim was raped by a 15 year old minor who stayed in the neighbouring house. The crime took place when the girl’s parents had gone out to work. The girl’s father works in a private firm while her mother worked as a maid.
The boy entered the girl’s house and raped her and was violent with her. The boy was nabbed by the locals and was handed over to police. When the girl’s mother came home, she found her daughter in severely injured condition. She rushed her to the hospital and filed a complaint with the police.
There was palpable anger in the neighbourhood after the horrific incident. The locals contacted the authorities and demanded harshest possible punishment for he accused.
People were angry due to the recurring incidents of violence against women. Locals also appealed authorities to help the family monetarily as they are financially weak.
To protest the incident, the locals said they would organise a peace march in the neighbourhood.
Don’t politicise the issue, says Khattar
Even as chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar asked not to politicise the recent cases of rapes reported from the state, the Congress party today reiterated its demand for the resignation of the Manohar Lal Khattar-led government.
Khattar, who was responding to protests against his government following reports of three rape cases from the state in the last four days, said that his government has taken measures to “tie up all loose ends” and assured of strict action against the perpetrators.
“Such incidents are unfortunate. We’ll take strict action and tie up all loose ends. We have made changes in the police administration and transferred a few officers. I appeal political parties to not politicise the issue,” Khattar was reported as saying by ANI news agency.
The chief minister said that his government has initiated a couple emergency helplines to help women in danger.
“We started ‘Dial 100 Project’, will also begin ‘1090 Project’ so women in danger can immediately contact police. We’ll look into matters, take help of counselling or legal action as the need be. We’ve set up special courts for speedy trials of such cases,” he added.
Last week, Haryana was shaken by the news of three rape cases, including the brutal rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl.
As the government rushed to take stock of the situation, the Congress party lashed out at the government for failing to curb the rising incidents of crime in the state.
Congress leader and former chief minister of the state Bhupinder Singh Hooda met the governor Kaptan Singh Solanki today and demanded that the government should resign, or else, the governor should dismiss the assembly and implement President’s rule in the state.
“We met governor over the failure of law and order in the state. Multiple rape incidents make us hang our head low in shame. State government must resign on moral grounds. We’ve asked the governor to dismiss the government, if they don’t resign, and implement President’s rule here,” demanded Hooda.
Earlier today, Hooda had met the family of the victim and demanded severe punishment for the perpetrators.
“The rape and murder of a minor girl in Jind should be condemned in the strongest possible terms. We met the family of the victim in Pehowa’s Jhansa village and extended our sympathies. The person responsible for such heinous crime should be given the harshest punishment,” he said.
A 15-year-old Class 10 student in Kurukshetra district was gang-raped and her private parts mutilated after her murder in adjoining Jind district. The victim was reported missing on January 9 after she left her home for tuition. A Class 12 student has been detained for questioning.
An 11-year-old Dalit girl was raped and murdered allegedly by her two neighbours in Panipat district on Saturday night. Accused Pradeep Kumar, 27, and Sagar, 22, lured the victim away when she went out of her house to throw garbage. Both accused have been arrested.
On Saturday night, a 22-year-old woman was abducted and gang-raped by four unidentified men in a sports utility vehicle.
As the law and order situation deteriorated in the state, the Congress party upped the ante against the state government.
On Tuesday, Hooda had called for a meeting of party legislators to discuss the “rising crime graph” of the state.
“The law and order situation in Haryana is worrisome. Four to five incidents of rape being reported within a span of just 48 hours are shocking. The crime graph has been going up during the past three years of Khattar government rule,” he had said.
According to Hooda, Haryana witnessed major incidents of violence and lost several lives under the present BJP dispensation.
“First it was the (self-styled godman) Rampal issue in November 2014, then (Jat) reservation issue in 2016 and the Dera issue in 2017. Besides, incidents of crime have become the order of the day.
Hooda said under the Congress rule, Haryana used to be ahead in most of the spheres including investment, per capita income and sports, “but now it has fallen behind on many fronts”.
“Despite the tall promises which the BJP had made to people of Haryana before the polls, during the last three years it failed to take a single decision to give relief to the common people,” he claimed.
Congress should ask for getting rid of reservations. It is this legacy of Congress that has created an India of corrupt and incompetent bureaucracy and policedvsikka
“What they did is only event management in the last three years,” he alleged.
